Travel & Arrival Details
Vivation Teacher Training · May 9 – 21, 2026 · Joyful Journey Hot Springs, Colorado
Transportation is included. We will pick you up from Alamosa airport (or your Alamosa hotel) on May 9th and drive you to Joyful Journey Hot Springs. We'll also drive you back to Alamosa on the morning of May 22nd. You don't need to arrange ground transportation — just get yourself to Alamosa.
Step 1: Getting to Alamosa
You have two options for reaching us:
Option A: Fly into Alamosa (recommended)
San Luis Valley Regional Airport (ALS) in Alamosa is the closest airport — just 45 minutes from Joyful Journey Hot Springs. Denver Air Connection operates daily nonstop flights from Denver (DEN), approximately 50 minutes each way.
Recommended arrival: Fly into Alamosa on May 9th, arriving on the afternoon flight (typically lands around 3:00 PM). We will pick you up at the airport and drive you directly to Joyful Journey. Training begins that evening.
If you can't make the May 9th afternoon flight: Fly into Alamosa on May 8th instead. Book one night at a hotel in Alamosa (see recommendations below), and we will pick you up from your hotel lobby on the morning of May 9th.
Book your Denver–Alamosa flights at denverairconnection.com or through United Airlines (Denver Air Connection operates as a United partner).
Option B: Fly into Denver & drive
Denver International Airport (DEN) is approximately 3.5 hours north of Joyful Journey by car. If you'd like to explore the beautiful Colorado countryside, rent a car and drive south through the San Luis Valley — it's a stunning route through mountain passes and open high-desert plains.
Having a car also gives you flexibility during the training for lunch outings and exploring the area on your rest day.
If driving, please arrive at Joyful Journey Hot Springs by 3:00 PM on May 9th. Training begins that evening.
Step 2: If You Need a Night in Alamosa
If you're flying in on May 8th (the day before), here are two recommended hotels close to the airport. Both are budget-friendly and include breakfast.
Dunes Inn Alamosa
425 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101
Phone: (719) 589-6531
On-site restaurant serving breakfast & lunch. Airport shuttle available (call ahead to arrange).
The Sunset Inn
920 Main Street, Alamosa, CO 81101
Phone: (719) 480-8392
Free continental breakfast. Free parking. Minutes from the airport.
Step 3: Transportation to Joyful Journey
You do not need to arrange your own transportation. We will provide a shuttle from Alamosa to Joyful Journey Hot Springs on May 9th, and from Joyful Journey back to Alamosa on the morning of May 22nd.
Pickup details and timing will be coordinated via a group WhatsApp chat, which we'll set up with all participants before the training.
If you're driving your own or rental car, the address is: Joyful Journey Hot Springs Spa, 28640 County Rd 58EE, Moffat, CO 81143. Free parking is available on-site.
Step 4: What's Included at Joyful Journey
Your registration covers accommodation, breakfast, and dinner for the full 13 nights (May 9 – 22). You'll also have 24-hour access to the three natural artesian hot springs pools, the meditation labyrinth, and the grounds.
Lunch is not included. The venue offers catered lunches available for purchase. There are also limited dining options within driving distance — participants with cars are welcome to coordinate group lunch outings.
Joyful Journey accommodates gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diets — please let us know your dietary requirements after registration.

Step 5: What to Bring
A detailed packing list will be sent closer to the training date. In general, bring:
Comfortable clothing for training sessions (think yoga-studio casual). A swimsuit for the hot springs and Warm Water Vivation sessions. Layers — the San Luis Valley is at 7,700 feet and May temperatures range from cool mornings (40s°F) to warm afternoons (70s°F). A notebook and pen. Sunscreen and a hat for the high-altitude sun. Any personal items or medications you need.
If you selected camping: bring your own tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and linens. The campground has access to shared bathrooms and showers.
Towels and pool robes are provided by Joyful Journey for hot springs use.
Step 6: Departure
Training concludes on the evening of May 21st. You'll have one final night at Joyful Journey to rest and say your goodbyes.
On the morning of May 22nd, we will drive you back to Alamosa — arriving in time for departing flights. If you're driving, you're free to leave at your own pace.
Step 7: Stay Connected
Before the training, we'll set up a WhatsApp group for all participants to coordinate logistics, share travel plans, and connect with your fellow trainees.
Approximately one week before arrival, we'll hold a group Zoom call to go over final details, answer questions, and make sure everything is in place.
If you have any questions at any time, reach out to us at [email protected]
Preparatory Reading
Before arriving, please read both Vivation books: Vivation: The Skill of Happiness and Teaching Yoga: Exploring the Teacher-Student Relationship, and Letting Go. All three are available on Amazon. Additional study materials will be available in your Teacher Training Portal.
We look forward to welcoming you to Joyful Journey. Safe travels.
